Diesel Spill - Health Officer Update

Cavendish Town Health Officer Doris Eddy has been in contact with the agencies involved in the clean up of the diesel fuel spill at the old Town Garage site and has the following information to share:

The fuel did not reach the Black River. The contaminated area is covered with plastic and absorbent mats. The mats are being changed as needed and the plastic will remain in place for several weeks. The contaminated materials will then be removed. They do not believe there is any impact to the Municipal water suppply, however they are taking water samples for testing to be certain.
